We’re still here – amid some rubble

We here at Fox’s Country Sheds have been in the process of renovating our office / showroom area.  But, we’re still open for business!   Things are a bit messy, so please excuse the dust and racket when you stop by.  We might be so dizzy from the dust, that we might end up making a crazy deal for you if you come in and you’re ready to buy!  Who knows!

 If you are considering purchasing a shed or garage, now is the time to do it before any price increases roll around in the springtime.  We don’t want to do it ~ we’re trying not to do it ~ but we might not have a choice as our material costs are really increasing quite a bit.  We have a few really nice in-stock sheds for you to consider.

Students build a Shed Kit – You can Too!

Don’t you just love it when you hear about a private enterprise doing their part for the community?

Several weeks ago, Fox’s Country Sheds provided a “shed kit” to the Warwick Middle School technology class, in the Warwick School District in Lancaster County, PA.

Warwick School District is in the midst of renovating and expanding their current middle school, and the students are surrounded by on-going construction.  Their very forward-thinking technology teacher thought it would help his students understand the processes going on around them if they could somehow participate in something similar firsthand.

So, they researched what they wanted to build, and decided on a “shed kit” ~ which includes all of the components of a garden shed, but it is not pre-assembled.  They even went as far as spending time on the www.FoxSheds.com website, choosing a shed style – the Carriage Shed (shown below), choosing colors, and ordering the shed right online.  Of course, being the community-supporter that it is, Fox’s Country Sheds gave them a great discount.

There is also a great article on the Warwick School District website about how much the students learned while building the shed, and what they are purchasing with the proceeds after selling the shed to a fellow teacher.

According to the article, some of the students enjoyed the construction process so much that they might be considering it as a career. Others have taken to starting their own projects at home, such as treehouses.

There were some questions along the way, and Fox’s was always available to help guide them through some tricky construction spots. But, the kids did everything from putting the walls and floor together to shingling the roof, and even hanging the vinyl siding.

I think it’s great that our community has such innovative and bright teachers, who are helping local students expand their horizons.  Kudos to the middle school students at Warwick, and their teacher Mr. Hartmann as well as their very helpful Millersville University student teacher.

Oh Holy Night… and our Special Requests at Fox’s Country Sheds

We get a number of special requests at Fox’s Country Sheds for customized sheds, garages, run-in barns, etc. The other day I had a very nice lady stop by and ask us if we could custom build a structure for her outdoor nativity set. I said “Sure, No Problem!”

She wanted something large enough to display her 3-foot tall outdoor nativity pieces. She wanted it unfinished, as they will paint it themselves. Even so, it is made with exterior grade plywood and 25-year roofing shingles. And best of all, she loved it!

A Fox Sheds crew member quickly got to work on it and much to our customer’s satisfaction it is just what she wanted. Even her husband was impressed, and happy that it took the burden off of him to build something for her.
