What do you do when you find that you no longer have room in your garage for all of your “stuff”, yet access to your yard is limited for the delivery of a storage shed? A shed kit can be the answer you are looking for.
By now you might be wondering, “What in the world is a shed kit, and what do I do with it?” Those plastic pre-formed, unsightly sheds that one finds at a chain home-improvement mega-store might come to mind (such as a Rubbermaid shed), but that is not what we have in mind for you here at Fox Sheds & Structures!
Our “shed kits” are exactly like our pre-assembled garden sheds at Fox’s Country Sheds — attractive, built to order, and fairly easy to put together if you have some basic construction know-how and some friends to help (friends with muscles are a bonus!). Our crew will pre-build portions of your shed as much as possible, so that you can easily attach the walls and floor. This is what we call a “knock down kit”. The roof rafters will be pre-notched for easy installation before you complete building the roof. Everything you need, from the pressure treated runners right up to the 30 year shingles, is included in your shed kit. You also have a preference of vinyl siding on your shed (included in your choice of color), or easy to paint dura-temp wood siding (paint not included unless requested).
Our shed kits will give you everything you need to build your shed in your limited space, without the worry and stress of trying to figure out where to begin if building from scratch. “Exactly how much lumber do I need? How many square of siding and shingles? Where do I cut this thing?!” All of those questions and answers are already taken care of, and delivered right to your driveway! Easy to understand instructions are included, and an instructional DVD video is coming soon.
Fox Sheds does recommend that you have some construction knowledge, such as how to use a drill, measuring tape and level. If you have access to a nail gun, it will make your installation much easier and quicker! You can easily rent one from a local tool rental facility, which will rent tools to you by the day or by the week.
Before beginning construction of your Fox Shed kit, be sure to select a level area in your yard where you plan on erecting the shed. Proper site preparation for your shed is important. We recommend that a good, firm stone pad is prepared. When you place your shed kit order, we can give you instructions on how to prepare your site for good drainage and a solid, level base.
Putting together a shed kit, whether it is a vinyl siding shed kit or a painted wooden shed kit, will take some time – so plan ahead. But, it will save you money in the long run if you consider the cost of a “build on site” by the manufacturer (typically, there is a fee for Fox’s Country Sheds to “build-on-site” if a pre assembled storage shed or garage cannot be accommodated). Another option might be for you to hire a general contractor who will easily be able to follow our instructions on assembling the shed kit. We are always available by phone or email to answer any questions, and you will be able to speak directly with our construction foreman for any difficulties that you might encounter.
